Why I Chose UVM
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hi its and again with one final video of my first initial 10 videos in this Siri's here at campus Riel. It is why I chose UVM and why I really want to sit here and encourage all of you to make the same decision that I did. Eso being from Vermont, I always grew up in the shadow of UVM campus. I grew up going downtown and seeing the college students out on the weekends and all of our high school, you know, state championships were at Virtue Field and I had competitions for, ah, business organization that I was in in the Davis Center. So I already felt like I kind of knew everything that I needed to about u B m. I feel like I I really thought that I had experienced it enough and that I didn't really need to learn anything more about it. So I actually didn't want to come here at all growing up five minutes from campus, being ableto literally run here. I don't want to go to UVM. I'm not even going to tour. So when I was beginning my college search process, I was kind of looking anywhere else but UVM I was looking at small liberal arts schools within kind of New England because I knew that I still wanted to be close to home. I don't want to feel like high school, But as I was going to these tours and was sitting in on the info sessions, I realized more and mawr what a special place three University of Vermont is and the Greater Burlington area is in general. I think because I had had that kind of preconceived notion of what I thought you bm waas um I kind of discounted it way too early in my search process. So when I was going on these tours, I kind of found myself thinking Wait, but the Burlington area has this, but the Burlington area has, um, you know, the waterfront and great shopping and music and food. Oh, but UVM has a medical center literally attached to it and I would be able to do really awesome research at the medical center with the medical school. You know, UVM has more interdisciplinary studies. You know, a better you know, teacher, the fact or faculty to student ratio that I was looking for. So I kind of found myself thinking about UVM Ah, lot and comparing UVM to the other schools that I waas touring. I kind of came to realize that UVM was the perfect school for me. Despite living five minutes from campus, I do not feel like I live close at all, and I think that that really speaks volumes to how great you bm is able to foster a community for you as a home away from home, even if you're not really away from home. So I often tell people that I feel like UVM has made me have an entire new perspective on Vermont and has made me appreciate Vermont in a way that I haven't ever before in my entire life. It has made me appreciate first of all, the nature more than I ever have. This past year I have not skied as much as I have in my entire life. My friends and I went up every single weekend, at least twice a weekend, all the time, all the time. I have done all of the hikes now here in the Burlington and kind of Vermont area, within like an hour radius of campus. I have swim Atmore swimming holes that I have ever being here as a Vermont resident, and I think that that just shows how great uvm can really help you love Vermont so much and really see all of the great things that it has to offer its students and why it's such a great place to go to college. I think that the academics, the social scene, the community that Vermont is able to cultivate within its, you know, tight knit but large. You know, Burlington Community is just something that's so special that I wasn't able to find at any other school when I was going to the search process. So I guess take it as someone who did everything in their power not to come to UVM actively was like, I am not going to go to this school and then ended up here and then loved it so much that I'm now making this video and being a tour guide and wanting to spread my love for you. B m toe Anyone who will listen that I think that that just shows what a special place the University of Vermont really is. It is truly the best place to grow up as a young adult and to transition from high school into college to being independent for kind of the first time in your life. Um, I think the University of Vermont is the perfect size where it's not too big that you feel like you're kind of lost and don't feel like you could have a voice on campus. It's not too small where if one day you decided that you wanted to completely doing 1 80 me all new people and me, all new friends, you can completely do that here at the university. Um, I just think that it is really such a great school to be at, and it's been the best decision of my life that I chose to come to this university despite not wanting Thio. Um, you know, I think that if I had a piece of advice for anyone listening specifically, if you're a mantra listening or if you're someone who's on the fence about coming to you, be I'm listening is to just give it a shot. I think it would have been the biggest regret of my life if I had not chosen to come to you. B. M and that kind of just require that leap of faith and putting, um, trust into the institution, that it would be a really great fit for me. So I would just encourage you all to check out UVM to come for a tour when it's safe to do so or to do a personal guided tour. Um, I just think that it is such an amazing school that you really can't pass it up to at least give it a shot to apply. Um, don't hesitate to, um, reach out to admissions with any questions. We always have great admission counselors and advocates waiting to answer your questions. I, I have absolutely loved making these videos for all of you to let you know a little bit more about the university. For now I want to thank you for watching my videos and I will hopefully see you all soon.
