I'm so excited to come to you all today present a little bit about UVM new student programs and how we're here to help facilitate your transition to the University of Vermont as well as all of the amazing programming that we have for first year students for transfer students and anyone that identifies as a new student here at our university. So let me talk to you about the timeline of what you can expect. What you interact with our office of student programs. That is the first big step of joining our community. Once you pay your admissions deposit, you are ready to attend orientation. Orientation is happening online through interactions on Microsoft teams with orientation leaders and other key staff members and your college and with our office. It's also happening on Instagram Live, where students can interact with our orientation leaders directly throughout we call jam sessions or just ask me sessions. That's when students composed questions about life on campus, life in the community, certain classes that they're interested in taking and so much more. Now, after you attend orientation and register for classes, which is a part of orientation, you get ready to move into your residence hall here. UVM, like we talked about in our presentation about residential life Students are required to live on campus during their first year, and so you'll be in contact with our office of residential Life in housing. They will make sure that you are situated to movin on Movin Weekend in August, which is a big celebration where students get to meet each other, they get to meet students and other leaders on campus that are really important to their experience, and they got to get ready for their first day of classes. So now that you're all moved into your residence hall, and you're probably starting classes. We're gonna talk about what you can expect with our office after you join the community. So the Office of New Street of Programs encompasses so many different first year experience events that are gonna help you get acquainted to your community, meet more folks on campus and get connected further. Some really awesome events that I love the future are Treat Yourself, which is a self care driven event for first year students and other new students on campus. One of my favorite events that is put on by the office of New Student programs is called Harvest Fest, which takes place during the fall semester during the 1st 6 weeks of school. It is an amazing festival of painting pumpkins, fall themed snacks. It's so much fun that is the most important event put on by our office. I believe that your students can meet each other and get more connected in the community as well. Now, after those first year experience, events kind of kick off in the fall. There are so many ways that students could even get involved in our office of new student programs by becoming orientation leaders. I, myself oven orientation leader and I have been an orientation leader for two years, were also called a Wells, and we are a family were not just a team. We love our university for what it is, and we want to help make it better by being present in our community, helping welcome our incoming new students, which, like I said, includes transfer students. We're also here to explore social justice, identity and how those show up on our campus as well. Convocation takes place the Sunday before the first day of classes, which is August 31st 2020 and the twilight induction takes place right after that.
