Moving Out of my Residential Hall!
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hi, my name's and I'm recurrent second year here at UVM and I filmed a video of me moving into my residential hall and now today is the day the end of the semester and my roommate, Megan and I are starting to move out. So I wanted to film and bring you all along on my journey of moving out of the residential hall and of um saying goodbye to UPM for this. So I am very overwhelmed with everything that I have to move out. So I figured the easiest thing to start with is the decoration. So this is me now taking down my tapestry and all my pictures. It's really weird to see it all come down after this has been my home for the last year and I've seen these decorations every day for the last year and how much time it took me to put everything up. Number one tip is to use um command strips because it keeps your walls safe and really easy to take off. It was funny though, it was it's a little bit like a jack in the box when you're taking the command strips off, you don't know when they're gonna pop back at you. We don't know what else do I know we took that out decorations and now we don't want to do anymore. I am now taking down the mirrors that took me forever to put up if any of you watch my moving in video. So it's gonna be sad to have to take them down now. It's so weird looking at that video of me on the first day of school versus now taking it down and just thinking about how much I've grown as a person here while being at UVM. So Megan has fully moved out and so now I'm just in the chaotic process of trying to move out. Right now I am working on out here getting all of my dishes into this box, my brothers here helping me, which is great. I finished my last final this morning for bio and now I have to move all my stuff out so I'll keep you posted. I was honestly convinced that the move out process was going to last forever. Here is me taking down this little shelf that meghan I had made early in the year of small little objects that we found and made. My brother just came and he picked up the last of almost all of this stuff. One more friend who's leaving tomorrow and to finish a paper that I have to do for gender studies so I can just like actually go home and relax and not have to unpack while I'm trying to finish this paper. I just got back from dinner with the last of my three friends that are still here on campus. So it was really a great way to and sophomore year actually still have part of the paper that I have to finish up to do at midnight. This is everything that's left just my bedding and bedside table. Really that's it, it's really crazy to see how far come this year and to see that this is really the end of sophomore year. I'll finish last my essay, move the rest and the rest of my stuff out in the morning. So I'll check back with you all when I'm finishing my move out process. It's the end of the semester and the room is empty. It's really, really weird to see it like this because this was my home for the last year. I forgot to take it before we took down our tapestries. It was really weird to see it empty as I kind of noted throughout the whole video. I honestly was so surprised that I was able to get everything out of the room. In these next few clips for the end of the video, I just was overlaying some of my favorite memories um at these different locations in the empty room versus when it was full, this was at my desk where I took my classes and ate some really good meals. This was facing the window where Megan and I had so many dance parties. Oh, this is at the mirror where Megan and I took outfit pictures and brushed our teeth every night and you know, got ready to go skiing together. Um, it was just, I was really thankful while I was compiling all of these videos to see all the great memories that I've been able to make while living here at ups. It's just what Megan pierced my ear um, spontaneously or all of the times that I was able to see Megan over on her bed um with our different meals or when she would bring me tea at night. Yeah, core outside the window where I got to see the seasons change. I remember specifically in the moving video, I said, oh my gosh, I can't wait for the leaves to come off the tree so we can have a better view of the mountains. Every night I would take a little video out of the window just to see the seasons change and um really taking the beautiful view that we had. Yeah, it's just the front door where I would take videos of Megan coming in and my friends doing silly dances and I just had so much fun living in the residential halls here in my first two years at UPM. I think it's an experience I'm never going to forget. Um, had a lot of really good laughs painting our nails. In this last spot is Magon and I's favorite dance party spot when everything's just got a little rough, we just dance it out and while I will be living off campus next year, as do most juniors and seniors, about 70% go off campus. I will pray ever be grateful for the time that I've had here at U. B. M. On campus.
