The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So today is actually really fun video, because today we're gonna be talking about roommates just the overall impact of them. I'm gonna be sharing some personal stories from roommates Justcause looking back and me being like almost a week until my freshman year's over. My roommate situations have been really, really good and also really, really bad. So let's get started. I was like, Dang, like, who am I gonna room with? I knew that roommates. It's like a built in friend because like you live with them, they can go do things with them and then battle freshman foma with them. So I was like, Okay, I'm just gonna be a trooper and go for the random roommate. I wouldn't random roommate, which, honestly, could be a hitter, miss, because there's people. There's crazy people out there not to scare you. There are people that just you're not gonna like that all ended the story. See, with my first roommate, we didn't technically end up rooming together. Didn't do like the same things that we didn't have the same hobbies. If I know for a lot of schools that, like, even if you get assigned a roommate in the MoveOn, there's like there should be a time period toe where you can switch roommates and switch buildings. It's let me guys seen other videos where roommates and we met the first witness school. Honestly, if your roommate parties, then most likely they're going to take you out to party if your roommates skip class and you're gonna see that and then you're gonna follow the cycle of skipping class and it's just like a whole lot of things, like you guys are gonna feed off each other. Honestly, you're not feeling good about your current roommate situation than most likely. Your roommate is also feeling the same way, so it would be best just free all depart ways. If you're scared that you're gonna hurt their feelings, it's college. Like if you're paying thousands of dollars a little Kansas, live with someone that like you, like living with so some things that you should lay down with your roommate right when you move in and not necessarily right like like right out and typed out a specific contract. No, lots of people that like if, like let's say, like their roommate parties and they necessarily don't Their roommate comes in drunk, but they come in like at 3 a.m. and just like start throwing up and just expect them like baby system. If you do like, don't be drunk like those are certain things that you should just kind of list out, like the major things. Like, I know people have been sex I'll so many times So honestly like, that's another thing you guys need to figure out. Honestly, just like the basic things, like living with another person, being clean with someone are what you guys are going to share. Like we just go like, Hey, can I have some of this? You're like, Hey, can I use a plate? Or, like hey, trying you on that one? Your napkins are like hair spray, like just things like that. Definitely ask before you just take things, because if you don't it could be taken like the wrong way from the person you like. Another thing that I think is really crucial in like a good roommate. Another thing that I think is a really cool thing at a bunch of my friend, including my roommate on find My friends don't use it Obviously gonna stalk your way. Another thing that can happen with your mates is you guys get annoyed of each other and something annoying can be Where are you? What are you doing with the law? It's like with known your roommate schedule and like having her on, like, find my friends, you kind of know like, Oh, she's over there doing that like I don't want I don't need to bother her. Another thing is laying out like, how are you guys gonna keep your room clean? Who's gonna take out the trash or like, how are you gonna dress up their side of super messy to the point where you can't even see the floor because I walked down like my dorm hall sometimes, and what I used to be like A Q room is like it looks disgusting just cause they have everything, like in a mess. If your roommate's a super clean person and you're not, maybe try working on that because that's gonna obviously help the rhythm of like how skills friendship is gonna be an important thing. In terms of like doing things with their roommate. Finally, a common thing that you guys could do together that, like, is constant throughout the semester. So something that me and my roommate are both involved in his campus ministry. It could be sports, like you guys want to go to every basketball game together or like you guys want to be involved in a B are just things like that are thing is young life, so that also kind of leads into like we're the same Bible study. A common thing that I see with people is that like they're different friend groups. Let's just say like your roommate situation hasn't worked out. What are the next steps? So one of the steps that I've already said is get a different roommate. Some things that I have seen that have worsened like roommate relationships. It's just completely ghosting the person and like not even talking to them once like you get to know your roommate and hopefully become friends with them, it'll be easier to tell them if there's problems. If you guys are proactive and making sure there's some structure in it and that you guys set up rules in that you guys, like are invested in each other's lives in a healthy way, your roommate can be one of your friends, like it sounds corny, but your room, it could be like one of your best friends from college, which I'm looking that happen to me because worming next year and were involved in campus Ministry. Don't because people can surprise you and people will surprise you to be a nice roommate.
