Hi my name is Maria Harold and I am a current second year student in the full time NBA program at the University of Maryland smith school business. Uh Soon to be an alumni as I'm graduating in less than a month. Um So after I graduate I will be going to work in the Baltimore area and I actually got the full time offer from doing a summer internship last summer at this company. It was virtual because of the circumstances but it was a really great opportunity for me and I ended up getting a great offer that I'm really excited about to do work that I'm excited about. So I actually got the initial summer internship offer through the University of Maryland's career services. So office of career services or O. C. S. Um And I started the recruitment and application and a re process really early. So through O. C. S. Jesus was almost two years ago at this point in fall of 2019. Um they were putting on a lot of company events, sort of company coffee chat, speak with alumni companies, you're interested in those types of events and I went to one at this company got you know a lot of great info about them and spoke to some alumni who had great experiences there. Um alumni from the specific full time NBA program at smith um and they actually had this opportunity for a women in banking um you know sort of conference but also interview so um as a woman in business and as a woman who is interested in banking, this was a great opportunity for me to learn about the industry, the company and to also get an early interview time thought because being a relative minority in the business world, so because of the office of career services setting this up, finding alumni who are really engaged with both their current job and the school allowed me to get into the interview process really early into an internship offer very early on in the sort of regular timeline. Then from that internship I got a full time offer and I only have access to thank as well as alumni. They did such a good job of putting on these info sessions where you could learn more about different industries or companies. Um, and that was something that as someone who was searching around for new industries or new opportunities, this was something that was really eye opening for me.
