My name is jarrett Turetsky, and I'm a second year NBA candidate at the smith School of Business. So one of the most amazing things about my NBA journey these last two years has been the academic programs being an NBA candidate at smith is really academically challenging, but it's super rewarding. You get here in august and you start your classes running, you're going to be hit with Economics and accounting and finance, and all these awesome disciplines. Help piece together the building blocks the foundation of your business acumen. What I love about the academic programs here at smith is that the NBA professors are here to guide you and mentor you. It's much more of a lateral transfer of information. You know, you're, you're sitting in classrooms, you're learning from your peers, you're engaging in lively discussion, your professors are amazing, they're not just preaching at you. Um, it's a totally different experience than maybe your undergrad programs. Um and I say that because the NBA experience from an academic perspective, while, yes, it's very individual and you have to, you know, show your, show your ability, you know, through performance and exams and things like that. The NBA experience is very collaborative and that comes together in your academics. Um you'll do plenty of projects and write ups and reports that leverage your ability to help you grow as a team player because after business school, nothing happens by yourself. You're gonna be working on teams and your ability to engage with and work well with others is going to be the reason that you're successful. So the smith academics help prepare you in that regard to finding success outside of the walls of Van munching Hall. They've been hard, they definitely kept me thinking and engaged and our professors are just wonderful there, thought leaders in their field and they've really made this experience what it is.
