Small Town to Big Campus
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hi. My name is Jamie, uh, from a really talks Small town in Missouri called Chill A coffee? Um, and I, um yeah. Uh, could you describe to us, uh, like the student body here at K you? Or, like any stereotypes? Yes. So I feel like some Syria types, uh, Mac universities can be, like against the Greek system, But I feel like people are, like, feel like a sorority is just like a big party all the time. Just like a bunch of crazy people, Um, like women just running around, like being all wild and stuff. Uh, we do have a lot of fun, this authority, But I also, uh I think that we hold academics to a really high standard. Um, and so I think those stereotypes are, like, really untrue. The same can be said about fraternities as Well, I think that like while they like to have a good time, they also like cold, really high standard academics. Um, really like, learn a lot about, like, brother slash sisterhood and just really, like, Want to grow is people in our years as college college. I think a lot of times people think sorties were just all about partying. Yeah, so actually came into college, um, premed and on the biology. I was pre med track on Die quickly, like, realized that that wasn't really for me. It was a really heavy workload and a lot of really challenging classes. I would say the work load is a little lighter, but I'm still saying, you know, really busy with my workload. But my pager basically is really just kind of broad health care, Major. So kind of like if you were just majoring in like, business or like, journalism, it's like the really broad major for health care. Um, and then also, could you give us some pros and cons about Kay? You be honest. All the honest, um, something I really love about Katie was just like the tradition. Like the school spirit that everybody has uh, I was really into school spirit and high school, and so I was kind of worried coming to college that that wasn't gonna be a part of my life anymore. I was really proven wrong, Especially like around basketball season. Um, but I think just tradition runs really deep here. It has been really cool to, like, become a part of because I didn't grow up. So I've really loved just getting Tio come into that and be a part of that, um, cons. Um, I think it is a really big university, and so almost in a way, it's like kind of clicky, like I feel like I don't really have a lot of friends outside of mice Sphere of data. So I feel like I'm really close with, like, my sorority sisters and stuff, which is really awesome. So if that's like one that's like one con that I could think of, I came from a really small town, like I said earlier, and so my school was really small, and so I knew everybody, and it was really close to like everybody in my class. So that's been really hard for me to come and have a huge, like, a huge change in the amount of people that are around every day. So I don't even know if that's really a con, but something that yeah, I wish I could changes. It's hard because it's like your work loan and just like extracurricular that's like, so much so that it's like it is kind of like the only time you get to hang out with people. It's kind of like you end up just where you seeing people? Yeah, totally. I, um and then what do you think? Um, like defines K you or like differentiate tio from other universities? That's a great question. Um, so I grew up in a zoo fan my whole life on DH. That's like, where my parents thought I was gonna go to college. Like there was never really even any question until I visited K U and I think the campus is really special here in the spring and fall time, like all the flowers. Um and like I was saying earlier, just like the tradition here, it's, like, so important to people that go to K. You just like like bleeding crimson and blue, like I just love that so much. That's not something I really experienced like in at Missoula. Like I love I still like love Mazu and think it's great. I think Kay was just really different because of how much like pride, the people that go here, take in going here if that makes you know that does like that. Then the last question I have for you is, um, some advice that you would give to your senior yourself. I feel like so, um I think just I wish that coming into college, I would've been more open to trying new things. I was really nervous coming in and didn't really know anybody except for one other person at k U S O. I feel like I really clung to that person and at first didn't really, like, step out of my comfort zone or do things out of the ordinary for me. So if I could tell my senior yourself something, it would be to just really, like, make the most of every opportunity and say yes to a lot of different things just to like, get yourself out there. There's so many opportunities here at k U. So many clubs and organizations.
