Tufts Dorm Transformation
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I graduate in two days, and this last year I actually lived in a senior door. Last year I lived in off campus house, but this year I opted to move back into a door. Have to worry about paying my Internet bill, things like that. Since I was living in a dorm this year, I knew that I wanted to deck it out, head to toe, you know? Total makeover. So this year I totally made this race really happy with how it turned out. One thing that I really wanted to do was make sure that I did it like cheaply and affordably, because I'm leaving after a year, and I don't know how much I'm gonna people's equipment. So hear my secrets on how I decked out my room for really, really cheap. Little boxes, suitcases, clothing, things that I haven't touched in a year. Toughs does supply each room with a bed, a desk, a dresser. I did not want to sleep on that this year, so I actually shoved it in my closet and then brought in a queen bread that I got for my friend for super cheap because she was gonna throw it out because she got a new mattress. I needed a lot of decorations all the way back in freshman year. One of things that my roommate and I really like to do for her door is just take everything that was important to us throughout the years ticket or like a Polaroid, or like a note that someone wrote you and hang that up on the wall. I have compiled a lot of stuff from the past four years, actually, and hung that these posters are all from so each year we make posters for each other for swimming. You too, and I just hung them up on my wall, so I did this last year, but I also was hanging my sunglasses on it. This why I got from Amazon? I believe it was $4. I'm not from California, but I am a big fan of this was from Big Con a couple of years ago. This, I believe, was from him that since freshman year of college. So one thing that I knew that I needed in my room with a bunch of neon signs I have a neon sign sophomore year that I got from a company called Neon and F G. And it said you 1000 wagering love it, and I'm obsessed with it. I've been so sad about it ever since the beginning of this year. The signs were so expensive, I think it was gonna be like $200 with shipping. Another thing I knew I was gonna do is that I was gonna put pictures up everywhere. If you are looking to make like a disposable looking wall but not trying to pay for disposal, I have a fantastic app that I have been using since freshman year. If you download the app and you want to try it out, you can use the code. So even if you don't wanna put it on your walls, I have books of photos like from each month from From Freshman Year. Another thing I knew that I wanted a bunch of was plants. Plants completely changed the absolute feel of a room, and they make it so great. One of my good friends from L. A. Actually is like the inspiration for my plants in my room. Some four open so much more like natural feeling, especially because in this room the light is like there is no natural light is terrible. You know, A lot of things in my room come remains on. So what I did last year's I hung above my bed and then in the little holes eyesight polar and and I think it's super cute. I plugged them in all the time rather than using like the overhead light, because I hate overhead. Light in the storm's really just great for setting the another thing that I literally stand our candles. If I could like candles in my dorm, they would have been great to have freshman year cover up the smell of my roommates feet, but I couldn't. Maybe one thing that I absolutely wanted so badly for this room was a floor to ceiling mirror that you just, like, prop up against the wall that, like everybody in our house, I think they're beautiful. I think they were each $10 1 thing that wasn't great is that I thought that they were untouchable by, like, stickiness away. What I did was I went and I bought a ton of command strips and Velcro thing puts four or six pieces of Velcro on the back of each one, and I welcomed them to the wall. I also got this thing I would say halfway through the year, because I was super unorganized. So I took one out of the hallway and I put it in my room, the mini for jihad I actually got for free because it was one of my friends, but it had, like, black mold in its they were just gonna throw it out. If you're looking for cheap mini fridges, definitely hit up upperclassmen and kids that are older than you when you move out of dorms oftentimes people get rid of, so you could definitely get them really cheap. Anyway, the overarching moral of the story is that the thing that I found is that the way to make your dorm the most homey for you is to just surround yourself with things you love and things that Are you fucking kidding me? The way to make the space someone that you want to be is to just surround yourself with things you love and things that mean something. People come into my room and they're absolutely shocked at how much I have up and how like home it isn't great. What is one thing that you need for your dorm? Also, if you have any questions about anything else or about college, or about where I got things, just leave them down below, and I will try my best to respond.
