Hi, my name is Paul Kruger and I'm a first year master of International Affairs student at the Bush School of Government and Public Service. My background is actually very different. I originally have a bachelor's and Master's degree in music invoice performance and I spent the last six years singing opera in Germany, but I started noticing that I was missing an aspect of public service. I wasn't sure that I really wanted to be an opera singer for the rest of my life. I started kind of looking at ways that I could work in public service that may also make more of a difference than just singing opera. And that's when I discovered that one can be a diplomatic foreign service officer. So I started looking into careers in the federal government. So I applied to the Bush school of Government and it was really my first choice because of the focus on public service and the focus on practitioners at the Bush school. They are really preparing the next generation of leaders, the next generation of people who are going to be foreign service officers or intelligence analysts. Like there's so much that you can do at the Bush school and so much need for really smart public servants with integrity and that's what the Bush program is all about. So if you're somebody who really feels a drive for public service, if you really feel like you want to make a difference regardless of how small that maybe that I think the Bush school is a really good fit for you. I've been in classes for a few weeks now and I'm so impressed with my professors. The other students here, people are just smart, they're willing to work hard and it's a good team.
