Hey guys, it's cat. So last time I told you that I was not wearing my Aggie Ring and I was a badAggie because of it. Don't worry I am wearingit today, I'm a good Ag. And because of that. I wanted to talk to you about the Aggie Ring. Tell you a little bit more about what it means, how you get it. And then some of the really cool traditions that come along with it. So first and foremost I'm going to show you a beautiful close up tour of my Aggie Ring. Specifically and I'm class of 2019. Whoop! So you will see um what the class of 2019 ring looks like. All the rings look the exact same, its just the class year on the bottom is going to different for summer class of 2019 class 67 all that kind of stuff. But here we go with that. Okay, so as you can see it says texas A & M University on the front there is an eagle with a crest and the number 19 from the class of 2019 on there. You have your name will be engraved inside. It's pure gold either 10 karats 14 karats your choice. It is a beautiful beautiful ring. So the wonderful thing about your aggie ring is that you get it fitted for you and it's a big deal. When you go in, you go to the association of former students and you want to try on all the different rings and find the size, they have half sizes quarter sizes, you get your name engraved in it. So if you ever lose it, people will say, hey I found a lost ring and this is the name in it. And trust me there are like a million facebook pages that talk about lost rings and people get their lives back all the time. What else do you have with? You can get a diamond if you'd like. Um the myth is that you should wait to get a diamond until you make your first million but that's old bag stuff. So you'll see a lot more diamonds now. You'll also have a choice for a natural finish or an antique finish the again the tradition is to get the natural finish and then you let it antique over time by yourself. So the antique finish which has a lot more black in it. Um, everything is a little bit more clear to see. I will tell you that my ring and the what, 2, 3, 4 years that I've had it has antiqued so much so I'm glad I got the natural finish to have that happen. Then after you ordered a ring you get to go out to this massive ring statue outside of the Association of Former Students and hold up a sign that said I ordered my ring today. You can post on it Instagram and facebook and all that kind of stuff and then you wait for your ring day. You know that a specific times you go to the association. A volunteer Aggie, we'll give you your ring, your family will come. Your friends will come. You'll take tons of pictures and then you will have your Aggie room so that the class number faces towards you. You will wear it so that the 19, for example will be facing towards your hands. This is meant to the inspiration and motivation for you to continue your time. Um, also when you do your wildcat, if you don't have your ring your junior year, you're supposed to cover your hands like this and go whoop. Um, and then when you finally get your ring, youget to interlock your fingers and go Whoop. Um earlier I should have gone to Whoop, but I don't want to bother you on your next I will say. And then during graduation there's this big ceremony, you take off your ring, you turn it So your class year faces out to the world that way everybody knows that you have graduated and needed to show off that you are fighting texas Aggie and of the cross of what have you. I think that the Aggie Ring is one of the best things you can get from A&Mit's a walking diploma it's a walking sign of the association of former students and I recognize people with Aggierings and I say Oh I noticed your ring and it's a great conversation starter. So that's just yet another thing that makes A&M super great. And then again, congratulations. And then again graduate students, you're just as much an Aggie as everyone else. So you get an Aggie Ring as well and you are a part of the Aggie network. And Bush school students should really appreciate that. I unfortunately can't get another Aggie Ring, but I can get a diamond or something special because, uh, to commemorate my time as a graduate student at A&M
