Meet Kaylah, an International Studies Major!
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I'm currently a sophomore at texas state majoring in international studies with a concentration in international relations with a minor in sociology. So far my favorite courses have been my political geography course, my gender society course and my Arabic courses. I specifically like my political geography course just because we need to talk about how geography is shaped certain social dynamics so like race and discrimination. Specifically, my favorite part of the course when we wrote about our racial analysis paper, where we got to write about um segregation in our hometown, which I think is very eye opening to students in today's climate. Secondly, I really enjoy my gender society course just because we can talk about how gender in society merged, specifically, we talk about the gender wage gap and how there's work faculty discrimination towards women in the workforce. Lastly, I really enjoy my Arabic courses just because I love learning the language. It's a beautiful culture and the beautiful language. I feel that it really sets me on the global stage and getting to talk to so many people with diverse backgrounds and going to learn such a beautiful thing that I can talk to other people about. I feel that um the best way students can succeed here at texas State University is really being proactive on campus, making sure they are involving themselves in activities, organizations, volunteer opportunities and making sure they're making that, you know, personal connection with their professors as their their, you know, mentor throughout college. It really helps when you have a mentor who's older than you is specifically in your field that can pinpoint you in the right direction or whatever you want to pursue in your future.
