Team Learning in the EMBA Program | Dawn McCale

One of the things I really enjoyed about the program at santa clara was that every quarter, when you started a new class, the professors would put you into a group of people. The nice part about that is just like a team at work where you leverage each other's strengths to help optimise and maximise the productivity of the team. The same thing would happen with the team during the classes. One of the teams I worked on, there were two of us that had a sales and marketing background and two had more of a math logistic supply chain engineering background. So the four of us really combined to work cohesively as a team. Actually, we called ourselves team cohesion uh to really round each other out and make sure that we were really well balanced. So it worked out really, really nicely for us when you get assigned to your team. What happened was the team would work together on identifying what the best time to meet on a regular basis would be. Team cohesion, we met every Thursday from 8 to 10. Some of the other teams that we worked with would have different meeting dates. So there was one team that like to meet Mondays until nine. I think most of us spent quite a few of our sunday is working on projects. I know for me there were times where I would just take any 15 minutes, I could just to catch up on some reading or work on a paper, just fit it in and you just make the time to make it all happen.
