Library Tour! Plus, Shayla Talks About the Work/School Dynamic
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So right now we're on the park blocks, which is sort of the park area in the middle of PSC, the one spot downtown that doesn't really feel like you're downtown. There's a farmer's market that happens here. Things right behind me is shot a call, and right in front of me is the PSC library. The library is closed today, an hour earlier than I thought it was gonna be. Anyway, I'LL get back in there tomorrow or the day after sometime soon so that I can actually show you the stuff that's there. Talk about being able to rent, talk about different floors and what's special about them. In the meantime, since I've got a little bit of time to kill, I should tell you a little bit about what it's like to work in. I'm not working this year, but last year I was working at a subway I was closing into. Thank you managers for scheduling way more than I wanted to be. For the most part, classes actually worked really well. My school schedules, Which makes sense because a lot of people a PS you are showing up, like not straight out of high school. It's people that are going to school part time. They have to make sure that they can eat at night so they can't just be going to school full time. I have done a couple of them myself and they're really good. My only advice is, if you're going to do one of those, make sure that you're able to manage your own skin. There is not a teacher that it's going to be seeing you two three times a week to tell you that you need to get homework in. This is something I really have to deal with my first time taking an online class, but for the most part, like teachers are super cool Working with your schedule. If you're taking a class in person, you can go to the teacher and say, Hey, I have the schedule conflict. Is there any chance that you might be able to let me out of school for this one day? What can I do to make up the work? And they're really cool if if you let known advance like I'm in chamber choir here highly recommend, and I'm able to go up to my teachers and say, Hey, I got this rehearsal that's goingto run a little late. Can I miss class this day? And they're like, Yes, absolutly Congratulations to you for supporting the arts, but mostly just work and school go really well together here as long as you are really good at scheduling. If you're showing up the day of and saying Hey, can't be here that work teachers aren't gonna be as happy about it. So communicate schedule and he'LL be fine and hopefully the library will be open tomorrow We'LL see. So it's another day at the library is actually opened this time So let's get inside and check it out. Those two floors up at the top are both quiet floors. So if you need some place to study and you don't have a study room, you're living on campus and you just need some peace and quiet. He can go up there and everybody is relatively quiet. You'LL be able to hear yourself think for once, speaking of loud noises, over there is new burger. Neuberger has a lot of language classes, but it is under construction that's here. It's probably gonna be done midway through next year, but until then, it's very loud. Ever has some really cool resource is like rent laptops. Wanna one class last term by just coming in here, checking out the textbook and scanning every single page? Do not tell my teacher First floor lab. This is where you can go feed print things out or if you just need a computer. I've been here a lot when I just need to get away from my dorm and study somewhere that isn't surrounded by distracting things that I own. I know you've probably seen them before, and I'm just way behind the times. Why do I keep doing this to myself? So if the quiet floor is not quiet enough for you, there are also study rooms that you can rent out like that one with the wooden door. You just go up to the circulation desk and if they have an open study room will give you the key and he can go up. I'll go there and hang out with my friends while they study. Just if you're on campus, walk in and find things out for yourself. There's a lot more about the library that I couldn't really explain in the video. I hear tell that they might even have thanks for following me on the library to her.
