What is Chiropractic?
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to my channel and thank you so much for coming back and continuing to watch the videos that I post. I really appreciate it, but today we're going to dive into the chiropractic profession, and I'm kind of going to go into detail about why I chose the chiropractic profession. What is chiropractic for those of you who don't know? And, then, I'll also talk a little bit about how Parker University is assisting in my journey towards becoming a chiropractor. So, let's get into it. Firstly, chiropractic means done by hand, literally. For those of you who aren't familiar with the chiropractic profession, it's actually a career path within the health care field, which means that it is health and wellness focused. Now, the neat part about chiropractic is the art of it, and the art of chiropractic is the chiropractic adjustment, which is unique to the chiropractic profession. Um, you know, one of my favorite things about chiropractic is there are so many different avenues that you can take it. You can be a sports chiropractor. You can be an animal chiropractor, a pediatric chiropractor. You can even be a forensics chiropractor I found out a few months ago, but really you could take it and become whoever or whatever kind of chiropractor you want to be. And, more into the chiropractic adjustment, to expand on that, is truly what makes chiropractic so unique, and chiropractors use their hands. It's noninvasive, which means no surgeries, no drugs, no shots, nothing like that. We use our hands to correct spinal subluxations. This helps with muscular skeletal issues, nervous system issues, whatever a subluxation can cause. It can help correct that and help your body to function optimally like God created it to you. Now, of course, everybody has their different philosophy and, you know, what they believe about chiropracticThat's for you to decide. But, at the heart of it, that's what chiropractic is is. It's, you know, health care practitioners that are helping people achieve optimal function by correcting subluxations using the chiropractic adjustment. So, now I'm going to talk about how Parker University has contributed to my journey of becoming a chiropractor. First off, they offer doctor of chiropractic program, which is what I'm in. I'm a trimester one student of the doctor of chiropractic program at Parker, and I'm loving every minute of it. I'm actually all online this tri, but thankfully, we are gonna be to attend labs in person next trimester, which I'm really excited about. One of the biggest ways, and kind of the main topic that I'm gonna focus on in this video, is Parker Seminars. Parker Seminars is amazing because, not only does is it an amazing educational opportunity for chiropractors, chiropractic students, but it's also an incredible networking opportunity. If you know me, you know that I love to talk about networking and professionalism. So, networking is so crucial and, you know, it could take you so far, no matter what profession you're embarking on. So, even if you're not interested in chiropractic, hear me when I say network network network, and Parker Seminars has given me the tools to be able to meet so many chiropractors and chiropractic students around the world. And I'm only a tri one. So, I'm so excited about continuing to attend Parker Seminars, even if they're virtual, because right now, they are, they're virtual, and they're still incredible and amazing. So, I highly recommend if you haven't participated or attended a Parker Seminars to do so. The next way that Parker University is helping me become the chiropractor that I aspire to be is by having a balanced three legged stool. And I mentioned this in my first video, I believe. But basically what that is is the art, science, and philosophy of chiropractic. I knew when choosing a chiropractic school that I wanted to go somewhere that wasn't going to give me too much of a one-sided perspective of that three legged stool. I wanted a balanced education when it came to philosophy, art, and science. And, that's what Parker University provides me with, not only through Parker Seminars, but also in our actual curriculum. Even as a tri one student, we're starting off with, of course, a lot of basic sciences, which is great because we're learning. We're getting that nice, strong scientific foundation of the physiology of the body, but also which will help us with physiology of a chiropractic adjustment. But, even as I tri one, I'm already in introduction to clinical reasoning class, which is really learning how to analyze research. What is quality research? And what is non quality research? And so that's been really, really helpful. And then, also as a tri one, I'm in a foundations of chiropractic class ,and even these past few weeks, we've specifically been talking about the philosophy of chiropractic. And what does that actually mean? How do you apply that to your career as a clinician? Do you explain that to patients? How do you explain that to patients? So, like I said, um, already as a tri one, I've been exposed to all three of those three legs on the stool. And I mentioned earlier Parker Seminars, but Parker Seminars is a great way to dive deeper into those topics. So, the last way that Parker is gonna help prepare me to be the best chiropractor that could be is through clinic. And, so, starting in tri eight, we enter into clinic, and by tri 10, we actually have opportunities to go outside of Student Clinic, which is located on the university's campus, and actually go work for doctors out in the community. And Parker even offers some opportunities abroad and out of the country. So, if you're interested in serving communities that aren't in the United States, definitely look into that as a student or chiropractic student. Um, but, with that being said, I really, really hope that you all enjoyed this video. As usual, leave a comment, question, or concern down below in the comments or DM me. I'm always pretty responsive. And, you know, give me a follow on @Destination.DC and follow Parker University @ParkerUniversity and then always follow @CampusReel for more information about not only Parker University's program, but also for student life on other campuses. Bye, y'all.
