I'm a junior here at Oklahoma Baptist University, and I'm elementary education major. So right now I'm in front of Shawnee Hall and I am in the oval, But there's also a parking lot surrounding the oval. So we also called the over parking lot, and the reason why I'm here is because, uh, we actually do to traditions here in the Oval. That would be you students just because of how involved it is in our traditions. So the first station we're going to talk about is called the Walk. If you see these brick tiles that go along the center pathway of the oval, that's where we the freshman class, stands during Welcome Week, and there's a whole night devoted to it. We dio Issa freshman would line up along these brick tiles to form two lines, and we walk from here all the way to really chapel, which is about this way. You can't really see it, but it's behind those trees, and so we walk in silence. Might may seem a little awkward, but we walk in silence. Teo, reflect our time, uh, that we have already started at over you during welcome week and just pray and ask God Teo to guide us into formation. Shape us throughout these next four years that were at over you. So that marks the beginning of our chapter here at O B U. And then our senior year On graduation day we do this same walk again with our cap and gown, and it's just symbolizes the end of our chapter here will be you. So if you are really cheesy and you would love you, you can see yourself involved doing these traditions, uh, come to over you because of this. I'll be doing it in May of twenty twenty and so I can't wait for that. Then another thing that we do in the Oval is called Caribbean Force. So crypt is a chant that, uh, we learn as, oh bu students and it's basically just a chant with a bunch of gibberish words and it that we all say in unison, and we do it just kind of intimidating uh, other teams when we were at sports events like football and basketball events and volleyball events to. If you want to hear it, I would be ableto demonstrate it for you right now. It requires copping hands, so I won't really do that. So it goes like this Crip corrupt cripple a tipple tap Oh, bring tolling toe heil, autonomous hobbies Keeping the cops and got instinct. Electing to Leka Will a Kulik a victory? Oh, you actually chili can regulate tellyou Milligan man who let it go Let it go routes to get to Santa Term Luke's it bang o b u. So that is our current corrupt chant. The reason why we have crypt wars is because during Welcome week, which is just a week before school starts, is for it's basically our freshman orientation. A CZ. We meet right here in the centre of the oval, and the freshman class is divided into four subgroups, and we are all marked by different colors. The other group can be black, another group can be blue, and then the other group can be green. So that's how we identify ourselves is by our colors. We all compete against each other to see who could do crib the best who can say it the fastest but the clearest. Then who can? Who can? Also, which group can also say the alma mater, too, which is something that we also learned doing. It's a really big deal here because we go all out, the teams go all out. Because we want to win bragging rights and say that we won Crypt wars our freshman year. I just talked about the two traditions that we have here. Oh, view one being the walk and second one being corrupt wars. The walk also happens the end of your senior year. Thank you again for watching my baby on a hope you enjoyed it.
