Respiratory therapy offers a diverse range of specialties, such as sleep medicine, neonatal, pediatric and adult intensive care, pulmonary rehab, home care and pulmonary function testing. The median annual salary for a respiratory therapist is $62,810, according to a recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
The NDSU respiratory care program includes two or more years of academic coursework and a 15-month, full-time professional-level internship. Graduates are eligible to complete a series of national certifying exams leading to the registered respiratory therapist credential.
