Gabby: My Classroom Experience
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I attend American University here in Washington, D. C. And I'm in the M s accounting program in the Kogod School of Business. Another reason why I chose this program was the class size, the class sizes, air, super small, meaning that the professors get to know you and you get to know them on a personal level as well as on a professional level. You feel very comfortable in that environment, and you get to know your peers very well and very closely. I'm pretty close friends with now during my graduate career, and so we sometimes we'll study with each other virtually, or we just ask each other questions that are related to accounting C p A or sometimes we even just grab lunch. My journey with American University started as my undergraduate career. I went to American University for all four years of my undergrad, and now I am here for my grad. I am in a combined bachelor's master's program. So I received my bachelor's in four years and then my masters in one, and it's a combined program that is offered through the school. So I decided I would go through with it with accounting as well as add a forensic accounting certification that is also offered within the program difference between going back to school years later and getting your MSN accounting versus the combined bachelor's program is I started taking graduate courses at the undergraduate level. So when I went to my graduate career, they counted towards my graduate career, and so I only have to do one year instead, which was a really great opportunity because does save money in the long run, as well as the fact that you finished school with the bachelors and masters in five years. My experience with American University has been amazing so far between the class sizes the ability to meet with professors during office hours, the flexibility that they have and just the fact that everyone is always willing to help you succeed, whether it's in a personal, professional or academic setting. That's been one of the most helpful things during my undergraduate career. Now, even in my graduate career, most of my classes air hybrid of lecturing as well as in class participation, whether it's working on problems, working in little teams or even just asking questions to the professor as well as having a professor ask you questions. It's really great to be interactive, even though we are in a virtual environment. I've definitely had a large work load, but it's nothing that anyone cannot handle. I've been able Thio manage my workload as well as having on campus job, and it's just about staying organized, having a planner writing things down with due dates. It just helps you plan things out and stay organized, especially as we get towards midterms and finals.
