My Life at Houghton #4
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So here I have two very special people who are considered my friends here at a local college. I'm a junior here, and my major is a music industry and psychology. Juliette, why did you decide that you're comfortable? College? Well, for me, I had heard of potent as a Christian college. Having a Christian education is really important to me. Along with that, as a music industry major, there aren't that many Christian colleges that are reading that that have an industry program. So it was definitely a large part in my decision coming here. What about you Rent? How how is this process? For? It was kind of funny because, like Houghton College was just like a college that I just tacked on to, like, find list of colleges that I applied. Like every other college I visited, I every other college I visited, I was like I was like It was kind of like, lukewarm on everything. Plus, yeah, like Julia said, the music industry program was definitely like a huge plus. Like all the resources we have, stuff like that's really nice. How do you think Houghton provides opportunities for you to work with music industry and to study that and to learn that So most of the opportunities we get here come from various other musical performances that go on at Houghton, such as chapels, Koinonia, other worship services, uh, student recitals, professor recitals, but not we usually work on in the sound booth of the chapel. It's just really great because one thing that our professors always say is experience trumps knowledge. I've seen that so much with it, just like my last three years being here, because just all the experience I've gotten stuff has just been loads more helpful than these. So you mentioned something that your professors usually say. Do you think that the relationship that you have with the professors off the music industry program do you think that they're they're good? I think it's really nice that in the industry program, where such like a tight knit group and we could go to a professor whenever we have a problem with either life in general or with industry. Yeah, Professor Campbell really just has students coming in and asking for help. No, it's a really, really good relationship we have with Professor in Nice. Uh, if you ever decide to study music here at Hope College, you will find out that you're gonna need these guys a lot. So they're they're so part of our lives, and I'm so later doing this thank you for being here and thank you for watching. It's really it gives you a lot of experience, but also is probably the one of the most fun weeks I've ever had on campus. We, like all, went out like two in the morning to get McDonald's after one of the practices. Being able to, like, hang out with people and do communal stuff like that is probably one of my favorite memories here. What about Children? Okay, well, the fact that you just stole my answer, E would have to say also prison because of the same reasons that Julia said And like performances like it, like homecoming collage, stuff like that, like the work is really fun. Like you know, once everyone's cleared out and everything is all done, just open up Jack box on one of the computers, play a bunch of games on there and stuff like just just the opportunities to hang out with your fellow students and even your professors. Yes guys, thank you very much for answering these questions were almost, uh, Andy. Then I'll do counseling and stuff because that's also something I'm really passionate about. Thio just go after college, you know, just, like go out into the music industry, whether it be as an artist, as a live sound engineer, as a recording studio engineer, as you know anything else? Like, I'm just so excited to get out there and make connections and get to know people and build relationships with people. Need industry, especially since, like the Christian music industry, so small and compact like, once you get the tools that you need from here and just go out like you'll have so many opportunities, I'm just super excited. Would you guys, you know, like, look at the camera now and, uh, could you be very honest thio to the students and someone who might be considering joining us here at Hope College? What would you tell them? Um, I'd say that I think you should if you can't visit because of everything that's happening in the world right now. Just really think about giving it a chance, because I've built a lot of really strong relationship with this college that I don't think I would have built a like massive university. Um, and I think the smaller It's not a small college, but the smaller aspect definitely is what drew me in. I'm really glad I came because I made some pretty dope friends and we have a pretty also major, pretty cool people in our major, um so definitely give it a chance. This college is just some random middle of nowhere place in western New York because, I mean, I've had so many cool opportunities just within this, like just knowing my professors and knowing my my friends who have graduated and gone on to crazy things going on tour and stuff like that. Like you'll build actual, legitimate, like, very, very loving and carrying relationships that are even founded in Christus. There's just so many opportunities for you here. There's so many opportunities for you to get to know us and for you to get to know everyone else in the industry program that comes in and everyone else in the student body in general. Yeah, I just recommend you guys just check it out. Don't pass it up and just realized the potential that you have here with everybody. It's so nice to you guys talk like that because it is also something that comes up very often individuals that I'm doing for campus rules, which is the true loving community, Holiness. Thank you very much for watching and thank you guys for joining me today by.
