Bri's Residence Hall Experience!
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So we're right outside of Gillette Hall, which, like said earlier, is my residence hall now residents halls on campus, two male and two female. For upperclassmen, we have townhouses, which is the house where you live with seven of your best friends on bang on together, which is really cool. So each hall on campus is actually known for, um, special events. My whole Gillette Hall is known for the great to let race, which I'll show you some videos of in a little bit. So when it comes to the housing experience, I grew up always sharing my room, so it wasn't really any different for me. Um, but you can have a single, a double or triple, even a quad. Here s so it's really up to you if you come in knowing people you can, um, request them, and they can request you. I didn't know anyone coming in, so I filled out the roommate selection form on this form. Um you have to be really honest about it so they can match you up with the best person possible for you. So if you're a messy person, why about it? You don't want to get set up with someone who loves things to be clean. So the roommate I was paired with, we actually got along really well. So we have been rooming for the past three years together. Um, we both really complement each other nicely when it comes thio how we keep our room, but also our personalities, which is really great. We both love to decorate when it comes to Christmas or Halloween. Eso We spent $60 our freshman year on decorations and just went crazy in our dorm room. We had a decorating party we invited our friends to see afterwards, eh? So it's really important that you find someone that matches well with you. I plan out what? We wanted our room to look like what our fears were about. You know, going to college how excited we were on git was just nice to have someone to go through a lot of the process with my favorite things about living in the dorms. Um but it's really felt here, Um, on your floor, you'll have residents assistant, which is an upperclassman on there really there to help you out in any way they can and they have a lot of floor events. Ondas the floor, you get really close, which is really awesome. So when it comes to the on campus housing experience, we really wanted to be fun for you. We wanted to feel community based not just like it place that you only sleep S o r residents halls will have a bunch of events throughout the year, so the graduate race is actually mixed between Scavenger hunt and the Amazing Race on. Do you actually compete by floor eso? This really helps boost that team spirit on your floor. Um, my team actually won this year, and so we're getting chick fully delivered to us. Here's some videos of our team chanting and having a great time. You can see you become really close with the people on your floor, the people in your residence hall, which was really important for me looking to college because I wanted to feel that sense of community, that sense of friendship and family within my college, and that's what I got. So 90% of our campus is residential, which means that most students live on campus. There's still floor events going on hol events going on eso. See, Russell's life is really important because this is where you'll be living for the next four years, total will become your home, which is a little plant words. So my favorite thing about living in Gillette specifically is that it is right in the center of campus, so I can always run out the door to a class of any time I need if I'm running late or I slept in a little too much. I also really love the people in Gillette just walking to the building. You're greeted with a bunch of happy faces, smiles and waves, Um, and it's always just really nice to feel welcome in your new home here. So in the residence hall to foster the sense of community, there are a bunch of hang out places. We also have bigger lounges, which people can hang out in, or they can reserve. They can plug in a laptop and watch a movie together, Um, or just a lot of space to play a game together, which is a lot of fun. So next we're going to take a look at my dorm room to give you a sense of what dorm rooms look like and what you can do with yours. As you see, I have my bed's bunched, but you can lock them. Each person will get a desk and a shelving unit so you can do what you want with those as well. Over here, we have the drugs, your doors, which you can use it on. Then over here we have the closet, which you have your roommate. Over here, I may want a little overboard, but you can decorate anywhere you want.
