[music]-Hi everybody. My name is Nora and I’m a Divthree student at Hampshire College.I’m originally from Seattle,Washington.I traveled about 3000miles to get here.If you don’t already know,Div three means I’m more or less inmy fourth year at Hampshire College.I will be doing a senior thesiswhich culminates all the learningI’ve done throughout my years atHampshire into one large project.10In my case,it’s editing a novel that I wrote,11or at least the beginning of it,12and hopefully seeingwhere it goes from there.13If you couldn’t already tell,I study creative writing.14I especially enjoy novel writing, fantasy, queer fantasy.15Today I’m going to teach youa little bit about Prescott,16which is one of the modcomplexes here on campus.17Mods are like apartments, except they’re owned by the school.18Mods are usually what you startliving in after your first year here.19There are threedifferent ones on campus.20There’s Enfield,Greenwich and Prescott,21which is the one that I’m in,22and they're all modeled after a certainaesthetic, whether that be urban,23rural or suburban.Prescott is the urban one.24It’s meant to be city-stylewith these fire escapes25on the outside and beingcloser to more buildings.26Although honestly, on this campus,27everything’s about 10 minutesaway so closeness is relative.28Specifically what Prescott iscloser to is the arts village,29which has the buildings fordifferent programs like dance, music,30studio,arts, film and video, animation.31We’re also close to the Roos-Rohde House, which houses Mixed Nuts,32which is our on-campus co-op.33We’re also in the same areaas the Prescott Tavern,34which is a new thing this year.35It’s not new completelybecause the Prescott36Tavern has been there for many years, ever since Prescott has been here.37In this most recent year,38it has been converted into39a second dining area/grocery store.40You can’t dine in itbecause there isn’t any41space and that would beunsafe at the moment,42but you can order food from it.43They have fast food, hamburgers, fries, nachos.44In terms of their grocery items, they have beans,45both canned and dried.46They have candy snacks.47A lot of just cooking essentials.48They have various kinds ofwhite vinegar, red vinegar,49and you can also orderwhatever you need there.50I know one of my mod mateshas asked before for them51to add coffee and then theystarted selling coffee.52It’s pretty awesome.53All the mods have common spaceswhich usually includes a living area,54a kitchen, and one to two bathrooms. This year specifically,55instead of mods housingbetween four and ten residents,56they have between twoand five residents.57My mod, which is made for eightpeople, houses four people.58There’s a lot of extra space, which is really nice.59However, we’re also stuckhere a lot of the time60because we don’t havemany classes to go to.61We made sure to deck itout as nicely as possible.62When we’re in here,we really enjoy being here.63Overall on campus, about two-thirdsof the students are in single rooms.64Whereas,the other third are in double rooms.65This year is different, obviously.66No one’s in the double this year, but in any year,67Prescott has only singlerooms with one exception.68There’s a suite-style livingspace in Prescott which is69honestly more like a dormfrom what I’ve heard about it.70It’s not quite a mod,71because they don’t have afully functioning kitchen.72For the majority of Prescott, every room is a single.73That’s really nice, you get your own space.74There are a few special rooms.75There are the cathedralrooms which have these76really high ceilings so itgives this spacious feel.77Then there are the loft rooms, which have a loft on the top.78I actually have a laugh this year, which is really awesome.79I’ll be able to showyou around that.80All right, let’s start with my bed, this is where I sleep.81I got some posters on the walland I’m right next to the window,82which is really nice.83Put up my own little curtain becauseI liked the light from that better.84There’s some trees outside,Autumns is in full anti-bloom.85Really pretty right now.I’ll show you my desk next.86I’ve got a little lamp on it.87Some string lights serves fora really nice mood lighting.88I’ll get you a little closer. Here’s my laptop.89I have a kettle to make some tea.I have a lot of books.90Some of them from classes, some ofthem just for my own entertainment.91I’ve got photos up above, some candles.92A little witch’s hat,got to get that spooky vibe.93I have an oil diffuser,94which I totally suggest ifyou’re going to have a dorm room.95It makes the air smell really nice,96although it couldhave toxins for pets.97Look that up.
