We have got somenice lighting in here21as well as my awesome desk spacethat I have nice and organized22where I can sit down and get right to work.23- The average Dakin single is about 8 by 10 feet,24and it will come with a dresser, a mirror,25a closet with some overhead storage space,26a bed, a desk, a chair to gowith that desk, of course,27a book shelf, a recycling bin,and a regular trash bin.28What are you reading now?29Now, we have our second dorm tour.30Unfortunately, this friend of mine31is a little bit shier and wasn't readyto give her name and number out.32How about we just dive right in?33As we go through her room,34some other really important thingsto know about Dakin35include that this building houses about36280 first-year students37in single and double rooms,38and those double rooms are about 10 by 17,39and they will have everythingthat I mentioned40in the single rooms, except times two.41And then something else to notice is that42every hall has its own bathroom.43The bathroom is shared with the entire hall,44but it is genderlessunless otherwise specified.45It comes with two big sinks, a big mirror,46two toilets, two showers, and a utility sink47that I used to use for dishes and things.48In order to get into this building,you have to use your OneCard.49Each student will be given two keys,50one for their room and one for the common area.51In the common area,there are going to be some couches,52a few tables, a fridge, and a TV.53Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go inbecause of new COVID rules.54- Winthrop Dakin was one of the first trusteeshere at Hampshire,55so this building was named after himand this tree is dedicated to him.
