Hi, my name is Tarandeep and I'm a fourth yearBusiness Management student Glasgow Caledonian University. In today's video, I will be talking about how was my experience in my third year of placement in the third year I had the opportunity to attend classes or to do a year in industry or to do a semester abroad There is a variety of universities that GCU is in partnership with. So they are either located in Europe in America in South America and Australia, so you don't have to pay any tuition fee, they just need to pay for your travel costs and your accommodation. Once in my third year I decided to do a year in industry. So I was lucky enough to land theposition at Northeastern University as a Global Corp Ambassador. It is a HR position in the careers department of the university. The university is located in Boston in the United States and is a partner university of Glasgow Caledonian university where there is an agreement where each year two students go from Glasgow Caledonian University to complete their year in industry within the Northeastern University staff, I completed all the, all the placement virtually so from Glasgow with my own laptop but I felt quite supported by the team and the academics at Glasgow Caledonian University as well. The many benefits of completing idea of industry is that you get to do something different.Indeed when you apply for graduate jobs they can see you that you've got a year of experience in your CV and you have tried to do something different, especially if you try to do that in an another country that's even better, You can decide to do your placement even in other countries, just don't limit your search, try to travel abroad because you are getting paid for the job that you're doing and at the same time you're passing your third year, so you are getting the opportunity to do something different. The coursework is not very heavy, but it can be quite competitive when you're applying for jobs because there are your classmates that are, that are applying for the same positions or even other students that are doing their year of industry. So it would be great to start planning ahead if you're trying to apply for different positions. After completing my year in industry, I updated my CV with my year long experience and I was able to land a summer internship which lasted six months and has been transformed in a part time position when I started my fourth year and once I finished that I had the opportunity to start another part time position, which was a natural position very similar to what I was doing at Northeastern University. My position at Northeastern University was the global corp investor and I helped the Northeastern University students to landthe global internship with global employers.
