Returning to Campus at Glasgow Caledonian University with Sam
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
As I transitioned into Glasgow Caledonian University within 2020, lockdown measures due to Covid 19 were still in place. This meant that working from home had to occur and it presented its own challenges, lack of being able to network with students physically or teachers, meant that a lot of self study and a lot of organisation had to occur. The materials that were supplied by the university and the online tools such as Blackboard gave access to these materials very easily in an organised fashion that allowed me to stay on top of things such as coursework or potential exams in the near future. The availability of the lecturers and the course leads has also been key and this all functioning as well as it could do during these times. And I have to say, despite having to work from home, the work that I've been able to do has excelled. And it's elevated the kind of learning I have been able to do, my research skills have increased and a lot of confidence in terms of me setting out and doing things and achieving those things has occurred. I felt that working from home, despite having its own challenges, has also afforded a lot of learning opportunities for me to get better as an individual worker and as an individual researcher, now that lockdown measures have decreased and that we're moving back onto campus, practical classes and labs are now in a physical attendance allowing me to ask lecturers, teachers how they've done things or why and to share those kinds of ideas and thoughts. It's also allowed the utilisation of on campus facilities such as the library, the cafeterias and eating facilities and all the computing equipment that's there. As the campus is based in Glasgow City Centre it allows really quick and easy transport links, so it's been very easy to get in and out when necessary and plus you have access to the full city and everything it has to offer.
