I'm sure you're sitting there debating a bunch of different programs trying to find the best fit for you and you want to know what's so good about the Masters in management? What can you hope to gain, what's this person's journey and why did they choose it? Well, a little bit of background about myself was I double majored in undergrad back in 2018 in communications with a focus on public relations and business, with a focus in finance. So I had a little bit of understanding of the harder skills and some of that mathematical background, but I never had to take any stem designated classes, learn any languages and have these hard skills that were very demanded in the job market today. What made me choose to enter this program? And what drew me to it was the fact that it offered me everything that I felt I didn't have the experience with or I didn't have the conceptual understanding of, had taken finance classes and accounting classes, but I definitely never had to take classes and R and python and these types of things that working for two years post grad, I realized was really important and that's ultimately what drew me to the Masters in Management program at Georgetown. The fact that I could take one year of my time, really immerse myself in this curriculum and gain everything network, reach out to professors, get this new cohort to rely on, and it's honestly been the one most rewarding and important decisions that I've, I think I've made. So what led me to apply to the Masters in Management program was basically, I was two years post grad, I was working in the public sector and I felt that I had gained everything from that position I possibly could. I felt as if I wasn't growing and I realized the only way to do that is to apply myself and go back to grad school. I wasn't the job market and I saw what was necessary to be a competitive applicant and I knew the hard skills that the masters of management program offered. I could gain it all in one year, so why not? And it has been one of the most rewarding experiences hands down of my life. I've been able to add new programming languages on my resume, new concepts, new types of methodologies that I otherwise wouldn't have even known existed or had any working knowledge of. I think from this program, what I've enjoyed the most learning about has definitely been these strategy courses. I did take business classes in undergrad and I did have, you know those finance or accounting lectures under my belt, but the strategy classes, the economic concepts behind them, the methodologies and so on. I had no no experience with and I think that is something that's very necessary to be a strategist to be successful in the business world today. In order to just know what type of students thrive in this program. It's students that are organized and dedicated. It's an accelerated program might be lying to if I said that it wasn't really fast pace and very content heavy. If you're organized and you have some sort of google sheets situation or excel file or, you know, like me and have a date planner, you'll be successful. So just be organized and be willing to learn and be willing to ask for help. If you're not able to allow yourself to ask questions to your professors or your colleagues, there's no way you won't be successful in your time at Georgetown.
