The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
It allowed me to immediately realize the return on my investment, and that was something I wasn't expecting at all. I thought that I would go through the course, the courses and, um, somewhere the way I'd be able to see how I can use some of the teachings and tools and things that we've learned. Immediately from Day one of our classes, I was able to learn, um, from the lectures, how I can use the information to apply in my workplace. That's the beauty of this program is that it was developed to support working professionals. So the fact that I've already been working in my career when I took the classes um, I was able to apply the frameworks and tools that were taught immediately from I'm telling you from day one. For example, one course that I took was leadership communications, which was an excellent course with Professor Janine Turner. She taught us different approaches on how to plan our communication and even how to communicate in a virtual environment now that we're mostly remote. Um, but how to plan our communications, how to be an effective communicator and how to understand our audience. At the time I was conducting several trainings, I've always been strong with public speaking. I wasn't afraid of that, but I didn't have the frameworks that she provided. Um, that would help me to be a better, effective communicator. So during the course I was conducting three trainings. I had three trainings that I was planning, and I immediately saw that I was able to use the tools and frameworks that she presented to us to support us with those trainings. Then she was available for any questions, uh, that we had. So that was such a good example of how I was able to apply what we learned in class. Um, when I worked at Sodexo, we had a sales team, and our team didn't really use data to show how we could drive to understand the correlation between ourselves team and where we're putting our resources in terms of marketing. So that's something that I proposed to our senior leadership at the time, and they were very receptive and open to that, and they were actually open to hearing more about how we could apply Data Analytics and and different tools to help us understand what that relationship was, so we can be more strategic in terms of where we invested our resources. So that was also a very good way of how that number one showed that my thinking was changing right and how I was able to think at the leadership level as opposed to being still tactical, another great class where I saw Ri was negotiations. That class was just amazing because it was not just lecture, but it gave you an opportunity to actually practice all of the negotiations throughout the course and during that time I was actually negotiating contracts and so it was very interesting because at first I wasn't very comfortable as a negotiator. By the time we completed the course, I became very confident. I understood how to plan for the negotiations and get an idea of my counterparts interest and how to come to a win win solution for both myself and those who I was negotiating with. So I'd say to anyone who is considering this program, you will definitely see in our ally, you will be able to apply what you're learning immediately. Not only that you have access to individuals in your cohort who will enrich your learning experience, who you can talk to about different job opportunities and different questions you may have in terms of your own professional development. Then the network within the school, the executive leadership program. They offer, uh, coaching and advice and mentors through the program. Um, and they connect you to many companies within, uh, within the D C area and and beyond that. So you definitely will see the value, uh, immediately, once you enroll in the program.
