As promised in my last video, I am going to give you some tips and tricks if you're moving to New York. These are some things that I wish I knew before moving to New York, things that would have saved me a lot of time and money and energy if I knew them. So when you first moved to the city, chances are you're probably not going to know the subway system perfectly, and you're going to have to walk a lot of places. So definitely get a really good pair of walking slash running sneakers. It is going to be an investment, but it's going to be worth it because you don't want to be uncomfortable. If you're walking more than a mile, which happens a lot in the city, there is nothing worse than getting caught walking a really, really, really long distance in like moccasins or slides. It's really not fun, like save yourself by some walking speakers. So once you do get a MetroCard now, you don't even have to really know what the subway system and all the stops. Getting a metrocard and holding onto it helps because you don't have to pay a dollar every time you need one. At the end of the day, the subway is going to be a lot quicker and cheaper than any other option, because walking takes forever and getting like a lift or uber super expensive. You should know where, like a CVS is or something just in case you need something you don't wantto look on your phone. You just be able to walk outside your building and go get lotion if you need it. Now, I know this is gonna sound like an exaggeration, but everything in New York is double the price. It's going to be double the price than anywhere else. Personally, I'm from New Jersey, So I have my family by stuff and ship it to me or I get up when I go to visit them. Anything helps, and it's going to be cheaper than what it is here. If you can get a free lunch out of something or free dinner, we're free breakfast or free anything. You never know if you're gonna need it for something else. So if you can get something free, get it? I went to a concert over the summer at Fox and Friends, and there were so many people there for the free food which, like respect, like if you can get free food, get the free food. So now I'm gonna tell you a couple things that I think you need, like material items that would really help you. It gets so called in New York so quick and you don't want to be stuck without a winter coat. If you're on a budget, just get something generic, like a denim jacket or a black bomber jacket, something that you can wear with everything because you really do not want to get stuck in New York without a coat, especially once it starts snowing. You need a jacket, so have one with you, or buy one because you're gonna need something else. The sun is always bad in New York because it reflects off the buildings. So you only have to remember one thing when you leave, rather than having to grab everything separately. I find that really useful, and I have forgotten things weigh less that that another thing that's really useful is a sturdy backpack, one that's gonna last you at least a year more because you don't want to buy a new one every year, whether you are going to school and you need it for textbooks or if you just need it for little, many trips. I just think it's a necessity for the city now, something that's gonna save you. Rather than going to CVS and buying a $4 bottle of water or buying water but the case Not only are you going to help the environment, but you're going to save a lot of money by having a reusable water bottle. Almost every school has the refill station, so they definitely get one and save some money. Something that's gonna save the space in the city are stackable containers. Basically it is going to save you so much face because New York isn't very spacious and a lot of the apartments are small. So you're gonna want to have won if not more of those. When I was moving to New York, I was very concerned about not having friends because New York is a big city with a lot of things to do. You do wanna have friends to do those things with. Something that I have seen recently is that even if you're not good at socializing like in school, which I'm not a lot of people on dating app, so we're just looking for friends to do things with, so I don't think that's the worst idea. Personally, I haven't done it, but I just thought it was worth mentioning because I've seen that a lot in New York. The last thing is, a lot of your friends are going to be jealous that you live in New York and they're gonna want to stay over. If you have a roommate, your new roommate could split it and you permit him. Use it when they have friends over, and you can use it when you have friends over and it's better than your friends sleeping on the floor, which is not going to be comfortable.
