Hi there, everyone. My name is Kartikey. I'm from the UK and i moved to Berlin at the start of January 2021 to start an MBA at ESMT Berlin. All of our classes are currently virtual, but we're hoping to go back to campus as soon as possible. Despite the virtual nature of the course so far, it's been a super enjoyable experience. ESMT have done a great job in investing in the facilities and this clearly shows there's a lot of interaction with professors and classmates. So it's not felt as if we're actually missing out on the MBA experience. There's a number of reasons why I chose to move to Berlin and specifically why I chose ESMT. I'll start with the larger reasons on why I decided to do an MBA first. In 2013, I interned for a company called Ennovent, which work in the social enterprise sphere in India and other developing countries. I saw entrepreneurs coming up with some super innovative solutions to solve some of the world's most pressing problems. And what I'd noticed from my research and from interviewing these entrepreneurs was that the majority of them had an MBA. And ever since you know, I've had it in my mind that doing an MBA is a goal of mine. Honestly, this is the right time for me to come back to business school. Why Germany or why Berlin in particular? Well, in 2012, during my undergraduate degree, I decided to take the opportunity to spend a year out in Vienna. As an exchanger. Ever since I've been a massive germanophile. In the last nine years I've taken the opportunity to visit all parts of Germany to travel, whether that's the Black Forest, Berlin, Bavaria, Hamburg or North Rhine-Westphalia. And yeah, moving to Berlin was clearly the next step for me. It's a very dynamic city, very cosmopolitan. Everything that I value. It's got a great startup scene as well. There are a number of reasons why I chose to come to the ESMT in particular. First of all the rankings and the reputation of school are superb. Its got links with businesses all over Germany and indeed in Europe, which is great when considering my future career. I have only 50 other students in my class, which is comparatively small when considering other business schools in Europe and North America and this is a huge bonus for me because I'm someone who wanted to, you know, interact with everybody on my course. In the six weeks I've been, I've spoken to all of my classmates. I look forward to getting to know them better. Our professors are superb. They're all very knowledgeable about their respective topics and their passion is evident from leading their respective classes. It's a lot of fun spending time learning from them. I look forward to so many more classes that we're gonna have the opportunity to take at ESMT. My favorite class that ESMT so far in the six weeks I've been here, has been managerial analysis and decision making. I hadn't really come across the concept that I learned in this class over the last few weeks. So it was a real eye-opener for me and I think it will definitely prove useful to me in my future career, and I'm absolutely certain that more classes will be like that.
