Hurt my friends, our money and we're sitting down here. What, actually about a contract for choosing the school something that's really important to me is the type of people we are. I know that Columbia has a really great support of LGBT community, which is something that was really important for me. As you probably know, how's the court, which is basically a bunch of general requirements that everyone has to take. The cool thing about women in New York line in school is that you can take, like, field trips with those classes to like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the moment to the Metropolitan Opera, which is a really good experience. So can you tell us a bit about the academic setting here in the classroom? Yeah, so it's kind of a mix of big and small boxes, so I took a lot of stuff classes my first semester because I thought I was a teenager and a lot of this stuff cost is usually have really big lectures on. So a lot of the houses are pretty big, but then they have to have a discussion section. So let's say you're a possible one hundred people. Most of the core classes are like fifteen to twenty people on its all seven are based discussion based, so he really like grated on participation. So can you just talk a little bit about how he dialogues that you've participated in these court costs have changed your mind set when we just have a little bit about the core fast? Because there's a lot of controversy as Teo beneficial if it's necessary. I personally have a pretty good experience with the court, and I think it really has to do with the professors they have because one of the main issues, of course, that it's very Eurocentric and very outdated and doesn't include a lot of other perspectives except for life the way male of Europe in little, for example, my professor made it an important goal to include perspectives of other people from all around the world. So we talked about like any losing poetry of people of Spain, Muslim poets and Jewish bullets. A lot of the text read is pretty Christian based Wade, some stolen by worse in a contemporary black author. So lots of moved into the social life has been the best part of your social life. Well, so I haven't Carmen resident All which is basically an all first year dorm and sweet style, so generally with sweets, are for people to rooms and about, except twice meet its temperature this week. Doubles and two bathrooms, and I was really nervous about going into it. Yeah, there's some of the best one they make also, so this was, like pretty small, so it's really easy to like stand touching, make a lot of friends that know each other. So the problem of having like a friend group that doesn't know the other one, er having two completely separate spheres of people I am act is very unlikely. Most of my friends no, my other friends are our friends with their friends. So what does things you d'Oh, Teo, get so my friend tonight in your made It a goal to go downtown away from Columbia Morningside area at least once a week on Saturdays. Way stuck to that goal really well the first semester and you just go anywhere. For me, the Columbia trouble is most of the buildings, but like sitting outside on the lawn, I don't really feel like that being a problem. That's really, really fun to do in the spring and fall and central Park is literally like a time to walk away, and you could get finally lovely fields little accomplish all along the way. I think we've had a lot of the frozen this conversation, but being New York is a huge pro. I feel like it's who you hang out with, and then you can basically make yourself like whatever you want to be another pro slash home, depending on how you got it for me, it's changing, too usually approach, but just how close that the community is just because it's so small and because, like our campuses, physically small, not related population wise, like physically, I'm always seeing people always have something to say hi to the dining hall. I'm never in the dining hall with I don't know anybody usually. When Khan's coming to Columbia is that it can get extremely overwhelming, especially if you don't have a specific background, and education has kind of got there, where a lot of students don't feel like they have, the resource is get on the same standing as other students coming into the school. There's not really room to make mistakes or educate yourself on political incorrectness. That's not the way that a lot of people out here to get work done. You know, people were posting on their social media like open in the library for twelve hours, which is just really unhealthy and promotion. Very toxic academic culture like you can't take breaks, which I mean, like I know about you, but I've been in it but take breaks and not spend twelve to fourteen hours in library and still do just a ball of light here. I was really looking forward to be around people who like ships and were like, like, liberal or whatever with me. It's it's a lot to deal with, and I wish I had known that comment. Personally, I wish I knew how difficult a transition process would be for me on people of my old friends, from my dog from just fourteen on. Generally you're not gonna know anybody here. For some reason, when I stepped foot on campus, I felt like everyone had already made a lot of firms and I was outside. Our school put on a DVT kind of party dance in our party space on someone who identifies histology beauty was super super important to me to be started by fellow queer people and get to dance and be in a very safe space and make more friends with other people who are too sweetie. Unlike allows the sort of thing to happen, because I know a lot of other schools like this thing wouldn't have happened. So I felt very privileged and grateful to get to experience until loving and affirmative event with all my friends and a lot more people in a really special experiences. Another one of my favorite moments here at Columbia was definitely walking through the gates, which is an event that happens, or ex cop with orientation vigorously that the whole class, the whole first year class through the main gates of Columbia College flock and stay here for you, and they play our song just really great.
