Hi, I'm here to talk about my major and the academics at Colorado College. So my major is feminist and gender studies or figs as we call it. Um and I absolutely love my department and the academics that I've gotten from these professors to have that intimacy with professors like we do here at Colorado College. It's really valuable for the rigor of the academic. So my department only has three professors which means I've had all of them quite a few times. We usually have class sizes from 9 to 25 people, 25 on the more popular classes. Um the class that I just took was an advanced senior seminar that was only nine people and I absolutely loved it. The topics that we cover range from you know an intro to the field, a history of feminist theory to discourse of the veil discussing the discourse around veiling practices in northern Africa the Middle East and France as well as I just took critical disability studies. I have taken a critical media studies course with one of my professors um I made a magazine in one of my classes about feminist theory. There is a lot of reading per night but there's a lot of grace and understanding with what you can do as a student and all the professors are really understanding about that and encourage you to take care of yourself the academic standards at Colorado College in general are pretty high. They do require that you get a proficient in writing. Um And being a liberal arts college, we have requirements to do a quantitative class, a qualitative class, global inequalities, a science class, a lab class at some point during your time at C. C. And I really like that because it really pushes us to get outside of our department branch into types of classes and learning that we wouldn't otherwise go to.
